Welcome
Welcome to the Guild of Unpublished Horror Writers. The Guild is a home for all aspiring writers and creatives who have an interest in the world of horror and weird fiction. This is a safe and supportive place where writers can share and showcase their work with each other and where they can receive supporting and constructive feedback from their peers.
There are only two requirements for you to join the Guild. You must submit at least one example of your work to be shared on this sight, and you must not have had any works of fiction published in any medium.
The idea is simple. Guild members submit work which will be reviewed and uploaded to the sight for others to read and enjoy. Other Guild members will then be able to post feedback and guidance for the writer to use to improve their work.
To apply as a guild member, you will need to submit an example of your work to the Guild via the email address information@horrorguild.com
For your first submission you will need to include a statement in your email confirming that you have not had any fiction work published.
Once the Guild has reviewed your submission and approved it , you will receive an email confirming that your work will be shared on the website and welcoming you to the Guild.
Any work of horror or weird fiction can be submitted to the Guild. This can include short stories (up to 2000 words, scripts, poetry, longer fiction (up to 5000 words). The ‘weird fiction’ banner covers a huge range of genre including sci-fi, fantasy, fairy tale and action adventure. However, there should be an element of the uncanny in these to qualify as ‘weird’
This is a horror fiction organisation and so all forms of horror will be considered including extreme horror. However, work that includes graphic descriptions of rape or sexual violence or which is deemed to be hateful towards minority groups will not be accepted.
Work will be reviewed only to ensure that it complies with the requirements above. We encourage new and aspiring writers who may be learning the craft, as long as there is a coherent narrative we will share the work. We will not edit or proof your work so please ensure you do this before submission.
.
You can leave the Guild at any time, there is no published membership list at this time so you can simply choose not to engage. In time we hope to establish a mailing list and newsletter. We may also decide to publish a members list in the future. In this case you will be able to leave the guild by emailing information@horrorguild.com
We hope that through the support and experience Guild members receive, that many will go on to have work published in the future. At this point they will be asked to leave the Guild proper, but will be allowed to remain as emeritus member. Emeritus members will be able to read and give feedback on members submissions, but will not be able to submit any further work of their own.
